Ferrovial Services North America (FSNA) secured a seven-year, nearly 19-million-dollar infrastructure maintenance services project with Sarasota County and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) beginning January 1, 2022. This is the third county-wide contract in District 1 (D1) joining Charlotte and Collier.
Having three contracts within one district is a real accomplishment reflecting the solid relationship that has been forged and maintained not only with our client but also in the services provided to the community at large. New opportunities help us retain and attract new talent while strengthening our ability to provide excellent, safe, and reliable service to all stakeholders using the network.
Assets that fall under FSNA’s direct responsibility include 110 center lane miles and 440 lane miles. The contract covers operating and maintaining interchanges, crossroads, ramps, over and under passes, storm water management, traffic signal maintenance, and highway lighting and incident response. As Sarasota County has a robust community presence, FSNA will also be maintaining bicycle lanes, multi-use trails, and supporting the many outside community events the county holds.
The client’s environmental conscientiousness will be further supported by a Butterfly Enhancement project aimed at preserving the area’s natural beauty and a healthy ecosystem. By supporting pollinators, such as butterflies, the goal is to further enhance the aesthetics and quality of roadside vegetation.
Added innovative aspects of this contract include technological solutions to maintain, prioritize and schedule, and communicate.
