Timec employee at Marathon SLC applauded for its safety focus

Kudos to Field Manager Cleon Yazzie at our Marathon Petroleum Salt Lake City project.  Marathon commended Cleon for his attention to safety during a joint job site visit.

HSEC Manager Earnest Blossom says Cleon used this as a teaching opportunity with his Timec crew.

“At this site, we share our job knowledge,” says Earnest. “We talk to our crew about unsafe conditions all the time. I call it ‘Chronic Unease,’ because you should never be comfortable at a refinery. I want us all to go home alive and safe every day.”

Earnest says his crew’s safety vigilance led Marathon to designate Timec as the site’s Contractors Safety Council facilitator.

“Every safety contractor on site comes to these meetings, and I get to lead it,” says Earnest. “We discuss boots on the ground issues to make us aware there is room for improving our work environment. Cleon’s catch was mentioned by Marathon at the meeting.”

At a recent Council meeting, Ferrovial Services’ Oil & Gas Safety Director David Hopkins was greeted by Marathon Petroleum Company General Manager Eric Sjunnesen. Earnest said Eric made positive comments about our employees and praised the Timec Maintenance Team for always bringing it’s “A” game.”

“We are a global operation, so we have high standards,” says Earnest. “The client sees this in our safe work and in our employee’s craftsmanship.”
