The US 36 Managed Lanes Project involves 15 miles of improvements to the corridor, including the addition of one high-occupancy toll (HOT) lane in each direction; reconstruction of the general purpose lanes; replacement of eight bridges; a bikeway; and installation of ITS equipment.
Ferrovial Services is Lead Operator for Plenary Roads Denver (PRD) and will operate and maintain the US36 asset as well as adjoining reversible managed lanes on I-25, from US 36 to downtown Denver, for the first 20 years of the 50-year concession period.
- The scope of work includes fence-to-fence summer and winter highway corridor operations to include maintenance repair and rehabilitation of all assets including structures and drainage inspections.
- Work schedule planning and coordination with PRD who maintain approximately 5% of operational scope specific to tolling operations.
- Development and mobilization in-house winter maintenance capability, consisting of 13 snow plows and subsequent qualified operators, to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
- Given US36 Managed Lanes is first P3 project for CDOT/HPTE there was excessive pressure within the DOT and the public about having a contractor perform O&M. CDOT needed the O&M to be delivered efficiently and effectively for the other potential P3 projects in the state to move forward.
